Adult Protective Services of New Jersey

APS has been established in each county in NJ to receive and investigate reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults living in the community. APS will send a trained worker to the alleged abused person's home to assess the validity of the report. If the report is confirmed, and the vulnerable adult is willing to accept help, the worker will take steps to identify and put in place services that can help protect the vulnerabl person.

Susbected abused, neglect, or exploitation of the elderly in nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other licensed helath care facilities should be reported to the Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly at 1-877-582-6995. All calls are confidential.
